Fethiye Sessiz, a clairvoyant from the Turkish city of Izmir in the 1970s and 1980s, recalls some moments of her past: the survival from childhood abuse, the abductions at the time of the military coup, the violence. They called her "Gulyabani": a supernatural entity, a jinn in the tradition of the Koran, with demonic character for some, benevolent and protector for others. A solitary, suffering spirit, witness of an emotional landscape devastated by the most violent years of post-republican Turkey. After the dazzling debut of Meteorlar (winner of the second edition of IsReal), Gürcan Keltek explores even more deeply the unconscious of the conflict that haunts his country. The testimonies collected from the diaries and letters of Fethiye Sessiz, intertwined with the texts borrowed from Eagleton and Sebald, give life to a visionary approach in which the dimension of the occult coexists with the disturbing sense of threat of military repression.
