Among the bustling streets of Medellín there is a world that lives in the shadow of the great leaders’ names, after whom the huge avenidas of the Colombian metropolis are named: street jugglers, mechanics and tire dealers working with spare parts in a relentless struggle for survival. Using a voice over that intensifies the brecthian estrangement effect already present in Tropic pocket, Restrepo ventures himself for the first time in the urban fabric of his hometown and gives life to an essay about oblivion and repetition. The cyclical nature of the gestures and lives of those on the edge is measured by the seemingly unstoppable flow of time, which weighs on them as a condemnation: “O tempo não pára” (“time does not stop”) reads the inscription tattooed on the chest of the young juggler suspended between the two carriageways of a busy city center street.
